Masking at home is skyrocketing in popularity recently and with good reason. We’ve been preaching the benefits of applying masks at home for decades. With so many choices available now, you can address any skin type and often use 2 or 3 different varieties during the week.
My saying has always been, “Masking is the difference between good skin and GREAT skin.”
Want to have instant gratification with your skin?
Mask. It’s important to get the right masks on the right skin. Our Estheticians will guide you to selecting the perfect match for your skin and your concerns.
Here are some basic categories of masks to use at home:
Clay-based Mask
Best for: Normal to oily skin.
Purpose: To clean and flush out pores.
Most clay based masks will help absorb oil and some may contain anti bacterial or exfoliating ingredients such as glycolic acid, salicilic acid or tea tree oil.
Cream Mask
Best for: Drier skin or normal to oily skin in winter.
Purpose: To moisturize. Some cream masks can be stimulating and will give the skin a perky glow, some are calming and will reduce redness ( your esthetician will guide you through this).
Oxygenating Mask
Best for: Any skin looking to flush out pores, stimulate blood flow and provide a light exfoliation.
Our Oxygen Deep Pore Cleanser does all of the above. (Note: Yes, it’s called a cleanser, but it should really be called a mask.) It foams up and within a few minutes the little bubbles burst and the mask disappears. (I know! Very cool!) It’s a very fun mask to use that works well for most skin types.
Bio Cellulous Mask
Best for: Any skin needing hydrating and/or calming.
These one-time use masks are the darling of the industry and with good reason – They’re awesome! We use these little wonders routinely in the treatment room to calm and hydrate skin after acid peels, microderms, microneedling, and anytime someone needs extra hydration. They are packed in slim packets making it easy to take when you travel to dry climates.
Scrub and Mask combined
Best for: All skin types.
Gotta love a mask that multi tasks! Our Mineral Peeling Mask does just that: Massage in the granules to exfoliate, leave it on for 7-8 minutes as a mask, and rinse off. I never saw a skin type that didn’t love this mask.
How often should you mask?
This question has many answers. In a nutshell, at least once a week. Our knowledgeable estheticians will guide you to find what’s best for you. Some masks you can do daily. Some are stronger and should only be used once a week. So much depends on what else you’re using at home and what type of treatments you’re having. We will get the right match for you. Any questions? (M)ask away!
Thanks, Alison! Great information. I didn’t know you sold masks ‘to go’. I’ll be sure to talk to Chole next time I’m in.
Thank you, Carol! I’m happy to know this information has been helpful to you. Chole is sure to find the perfect mask for you!
